Hiya! That’s my new Dutch greeting that I’ve added to the list since I just spent an amazing couple of days in Amsterdam. It wasn’t at all how I thought it would be and I love it for everything that I now know.
But that’s actually not what this post is about…I’m just veering off topic, of course.
So last week in London was Fashion week. In London, fashion week is a bit different than what we may see in New York. They don’t really get the major fashion designers such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Prada, etc. but it’s a great opportunity to feature truly British designers like Burberry and Victoria Beckham PLUS show emerging designers.
The highlight for me, personally, was the street style. People are so incredibly open and loud with their style in London and they take it to a new level during Fashion week. It’s almost indescribable, definitely something that’s worth seeing.
(NSFW! I made a new friend because of this jacket haha)
I was lucky enough to attend a catwalk and presentation but I’m super bummed that I couldn’t do more because of my school schedule. This definitely won’t be my last time being a part of London fashion week, though. I’m just gonna put that into the Universe now 🙂
Here are a few tips that I recommend for getting the most out of your Fashion Week experience:
1. Dress the part: You will notice that everyone will be in something especially glitzy so get on in there, don’t be shy. You’ll have a much better chance of sneaking into a show if you dress the part. That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be decked out in designer, but be creative with what you have.
2. Catwalk shows aren’t the only way: So obviously who wouldn’t want to be sitting front row at the Chanel or Valentino show? I deffffinitely would. I don’t know about you but it’s just not in the cards for me right now, but most of us can attend presentations for FREE. For example, some designers will opt to present their clothing in a more unique way than just going down the runway. Depending on the aesthetic of their brand, they will have models standing on display and put on a show to showcase the clothing. This actually gives you a better view of the fashion line plus sometimes there are freebies 😊
3. Never forget about the runway around you, STREET STYLE: Let’s say that you’ve dressed to impress, & still no luck with a catwalk or presentation. Remember the Runway show where everyone can get in, regardless of status. The streets, baby. Have it in your mind that what is going on outside of the show may be just as good as what’s happening inside! You can always hop on a Vogue website later and watch the full show 😋
At this very moment I’m in Paris where Paris Fashion Week is flowing through the streets and infecting us all!
Lotts of Love,
